Artificial leather bag manufacturers

Buyers should distinguish between PU (Polyurethane) and PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). PU leather is generally preferred for high-end bags as it is more breathable, softer, and eco-friendly, whereas PVC is more durable and water-resistant but less flexible. Ensure the material thickness is at least 1.0mm to 1.5mm for structural integrity, and verify the backing fabric (non-woven or knitted) to ensure tear resistance.

For the US market, products must comply with California Proposition 65 regarding lead and phthalate content. For the EU, REACH regulation is critical to ensure the absence of harmful chemicals like AZO dyes and heavy metals. If targeting eco-conscious consumers, look for GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification for recycled synthetic leathers.

Hardware should be made of zinc alloy or stainless steel with electroplating to prevent oxidation and fading; a salt spray test report is recommended. Stitching should be uniform with a density of 7-9 stitches per inch, and critical stress points like handle attachments must have reinforced X-stitching or rivets to prevent detachment under load.

Request a Load-Bearing Test (typically 5-10kg depending on bag size) and a Zipper Reciprocating Test (ensuring smooth operation for over 5,000 cycles). Additionally, a Colorfastness to Rubbing test (ISO 105-X12) should be performed to ensure the dye does not transfer to the user's clothing.

Artificial leather often retains a 'new plastic' smell due to residual solvents. Specify the use of water-based PU (DMF-free) in your contract. Require the supplier to ventilate the finished goods for 48 hours before packing and include activated carbon sachets in the packaging to absorb odors during transit.

Many suppliers offer a flexible MOQ (e.g., 100-300 pieces) for existing molds but require 500+ pieces for custom hardware or unique colors. Negotiate a tiered pricing structure where the unit price drops by 10-15% as volume increases. Always request a pre-production sample (PPS) before the mass production deposit is paid.

Artificial leather bags are prone to permanent creasing. Ensure the supplier uses high-quality paper stuffing or air pillows to maintain the bag's shape. Specify that bags should be packed in individual dust bags and polybags, then placed in 5-layer corrugated export cartons with a maximum weight of 15kg per box to prevent crushing at the bottom of the container.

Utilize Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until shipping. Hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Final Random Inspection (FRI) based on AQL 2.5/4.0 standards before the final balance is settled. This ensures the goods meet the agreed-upon specifications before they leave the factory.
