Biotin manufacturers

Biotin is typically traded in two forms: Pure Biotin (≥99%) and Biotin Dilutions (1% or 10%) used for premixes. For pharmaceutical or high-end nutraceutical use, ensure the product meets USP (United States Pharmacopeia), EP (European Pharmacopoeia), or BP (British Pharmacopoeia) standards. The appearance should be a white or off-white crystalline powder, and you must verify the specific optical rotation (+89° to +93°) to ensure it is the biologically active D-Biotin isomer.

Depending on the application (food, feed, or pharma), suppliers must provide ISO 9001 and ISO 22000/HACCP for food safety. For the US market, FDA Registration is essential. If the product is for the European market, FAMI-QS is required for feed additives. Additionally, Kosher and Halal certifications are highly recommended to maximize market reach in the global supplement industry.

Biotin is relatively stable to air and heat but sensitive to UV light and strong oxidizing agents. Buyers should request Stability Testing Reports (accelerated and long-term). The standard shelf life is 24 to 36 months when stored in original, unopened containers in a cool, dry, and dark environment. Ensure the packaging uses aluminum foil bags or fiber drums with double PE liners to prevent moisture absorption.

Biotin is segmented by application: USP/EP Grade is used for human supplements targeting hair, skin, and nail health; Food Grade is used for fortifying infant formula and energy drinks; and Feed Grade is widely used in poultry and livestock nutrition to improve hoof health and growth rates. Always specify the end-use to the supplier to ensure the correct heavy metal limits (e.g., Lead <0.5ppm, Arsenic <1ppm) are met.

The primary risk is adulteration or sub-standard purity, where 1% Biotin is sold as pure, or the L-Biotin isomer is used. To mitigate this, always use Third-Party Inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct random sampling before shipment. Furthermore, ensure the transaction is protected through Trade Assurance on platforms like Made-in-China.com to secure your payment until the quality is verified.

Biotin prices are subject to raw material fluctuations (e.g., malonic acid). To secure better pricing, consider Annual Volume Contracts rather than spot purchases to lock in rates. Negotiate for tiered pricing where the unit cost drops by 5-10% for orders exceeding 500kg. For new suppliers, request a paid sample (10-50g) first, and insist that the bulk order quality matches the sample exactly in the contract.

Biotin is classified as a non-hazardous chemical for transport, but it requires a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. When shipping to the US or EU, ensure the HS Code (2936.21.00) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays. For large volumes, Sea Freight (FCL/LCL) is most economical, but for high-value pure Biotin, Air Freight is preferred to reduce transit time and exposure to humidity.

Always verify the supplier's Business License and check if they are an Audited Supplier on Made-in-China.com. Avoid using untraceable payment methods like Western Union; instead, use Letters of Credit (L/C) for large orders or Telegraphic Transfer (T/T) with a 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L). Ensure the contract includes a clear dispute resolution clause and specifies the governing law.
