China tableware manufacturers

When sourcing China tableware, prioritize Bone China (containing at least 30-45% bone ash for translucency and strength) or Fine Porcelain (fired at temperatures above 1300°C for low porosity). Ensure the glaze is lead-free and cadmium-free to meet international food safety standards. For commercial use, look for reinforced edges to prevent chipping and scratch-resistant glazes that withstand frequent utensil contact.

Suppliers must provide FDA (USA) or EC 1935/2004 (EU) compliance certificates for food contact materials. Additionally, ensure products pass ISO 6486-1 tests for lead and cadmium release. If selling in California, Proposition 65 compliance is essential. Always request third-party lab reports from recognized bodies like SGS, TUV, or Intertek before finalizing the order.

For B2B buyers in the HORECA sector, verify thermal shock resistance (the ability to withstand sudden temperature changes from -20°C to 180°C) and dishwasher/microwave safety. Request data on water absorption rates, which should be less than 0.5% to prevent bacterial growth and staining. High-density vitrified bodies are preferred for long-term economic feasibility in high-traffic environments.

Top-tier manufacturers on Made-in-China.com should offer in-glaze or on-glaze decal printing, gold/platinum rimming, and custom mold development. Ensure the supplier can provide 3D renderings or physical prototypes within 7-10 days. Check if they use high-precision CNC molds to ensure consistency in stackability and weight across large production batches.

Tableware is highly fragile; therefore, you must mandate 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual bubble wrapping or molded pulp inserts. Request a Drop Test Report (ISTA 1A or 2A). For bulk shipments, ensure palletization with plastic wrap and corner protectors is used to minimize handling damage during sea freight.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for a lower MOQ on trial orders to test market response, but offer a projected annual volume to secure Tier-1 pricing. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to protect your payment, ensuring funds are only released after the Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) is passed.

Be aware that certain regions, such as the EU and Brazil, have historically imposed anti-dumping duties on ceramic tableware originating from China. Always verify the HS Code (typically 6911.10) with your local customs broker and ask the supplier if they have a separate duty rate or if they are on the 'cooperating companies' list to reduce tax exposure.

Always conduct a factory audit or hire a third-party inspector to verify the supplier's ISO 9001 status. Before the final payment, perform a Random Sampling Inspection (AQL 2.5/4.0 standard) to check for pinholes, black spots, or uneven glazing. Ensure the Proforma Invoice (PI) clearly states the compensation terms for breakage rates exceeding 3%.
