Comb knife manufacturers

When evaluating comb knives, focus on the blade material, typically 3CR13 or 440C stainless steel, to ensure corrosion resistance and basic edge retention. The handle and comb teeth should be made of high-impact ABS plastic or reinforced nylon to prevent snapping during regular grooming use. Pay close attention to the locking mechanism (such as a liner lock or friction fit) to ensure the blade does not deploy accidentally, providing user safety and structural integrity.

You should prioritize suppliers who provide ISO 9001 certification for manufacturing consistency. For the plastic components, ensure they are BPA-free and REACH compliant if being sold in the EU. Since this is a dual-purpose item, request salt spray test reports to verify that the hidden blade won't rust when exposed to hair products or moisture, ensuring a long product lifecycle.

Comb knives are primarily marketed as self-defense tools, novelty gifts, or EDC (Everyday Carry) accessories. They are popular in the outdoor and survivalist niche, as well as the security and personal protection retail sectors. Buyers should ensure the design balances the discreet appearance of a standard comb with the functional utility of a utility knife.

Most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer custom logo printing (laser engraving or silk screening) on the handle. You can also request customized pantone colors for the plastic casing and bespoke blister packaging or display boxes to enhance brand recognition and retail shelf appeal.

The most critical risk is legal classification. Many countries (such as the UK, Australia, and certain US states) classify hidden blades as concealed weapons or prohibited items. Before placing a bulk order, you must verify local customs laws to avoid shipment seizure. Ensure the HS Code (typically 8211.93) is declared correctly and that the product does not violate gravity knife or switchblade regulations in the destination country.

Always use Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the goods are verified. Negotiate for a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment after a successful third-party pre-shipment inspection (PSI). This ensures that the blade sharpness, material quality, and quantity match your specifications before the funds are fully released.

Because these items contain metal blades, they may be flagged during X-ray security screenings. It is advisable to use specialized logistics lines experienced in handling 'sensitive' goods. Ensure the supplier uses reinforced double-wall corrugated cartons and that each unit is securely sheathed to prevent the blade from piercing the packaging during transit, which could lead to workplace safety issues at the warehouse.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' on Made-in-China.com who have undergone on-site verification by independent agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Check their export history to see if they have experience shipping to your specific region, as this indicates they are familiar with the required documentation and packaging standards for your market.
