Kitchen knife set manufacturers

High-quality sets typically use High-Carbon Stainless Steel (e.g., 7Cr17MoV, X50CrMoV15, or Japanese VG10) to balance edge retention and corrosion resistance. For B2B buyers, it is essential to verify the Rockwell Hardness Scale (HRC); professional chef knives should ideally fall between 56-62 HRC. Additionally, ensure the handles are made of ergonomic, non-porous materials like G10, Micarta, or ABS to meet food safety standards.

Since these are food-contact tools, they must pass FDA (U.S.) or LFGB (EU) food safety testing to ensure no harmful chemicals leach from the blades or coatings. For the European market, CE marking and compliance with ISO 8442-1 (materials and performance of cutlery) are highly recommended. Always request Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for any non-stick coatings used on the blades.

Focus on the blade construction (Full Tang vs. Half Tang); a Full Tang design where the steel extends through the entire handle offers superior balance and durability. Ask the supplier for close-up videos of the bolster and rivets to check for seamless integration, which prevents bacterial growth. Request a paper-cutting or tomato-slicing test video to verify the initial factory sharpness angle (typically 15-20 degrees per side).

Look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com that offer laser-etched logos, custom Damascus patterns (acid etching), and bespoke packaging like magnetic gift boxes or acacia wood blocks. Advanced suppliers can also provide PVD color coatings or specialized handle textures to align with specific market trends like 'minimalist' or 'professional rustic' aesthetics.

Kitchen knives are often classified as 'sensitive goods' by couriers. You must ensure the supplier uses secure, puncture-proof packaging and clearly declares the items as 'Kitchen Tools' or 'Cutlery'. For bulk sea freight, ensure the HS Code (typically 8211.92) is correctly filed to avoid customs delays or seizures. Work with experienced freight forwarders who specialize in special goods clearance.

Focus on Tiered Pricing based on MOQ; for example, a 500-set order might be 20% cheaper than a 100-set order. Negotiate for 'Golden Samples'—the approved sample that serves as the quality benchmark for the entire production run. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers and use Secured Trading services to protect your payment until the third-party inspection is passed.

Require the supplier to apply a food-grade anti-rust oil layer on high-carbon blades before shipping. Insist on VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) paper wrapping and moisture-absorbent silica gel packs inside the master cartons. Conduct a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to check for salt spray test results, ensuring the knives can withstand humid maritime transit conditions.
